NATIONAL  NAVIGATION  AWARD  SCHEME  (NNAS)

The National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) is a UK wide navigation scheme designed to provide a structured approach to learning navigation skills. Each different level of the award---Bronze, Silver & Gold---is designed to provide a progression through all the skills required for countryside, hill and mountain navigation using map and compass. Upon competing the assessment element of each level the candidate will receive the appropriate certificate. Although not a leadership qualification, the awards provide a useful benchmark of personal competence. The Bronze award is now accredited by the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 4, and 2 SCQF credit points are awarded on completion.
